Colonial in Fort Worth, TX

Last week, May 16-22 we were in Fort Worth for the Colonial golf tournament.  That is the tournament that Zach won last year, so it was fun to see his picture on the programs and tickets and have a prime parking spot at the course.  One of the houses next to the course even had a good luck banner up for him.  I have a few friends that live in the area, so I got to see them while I was there.  One was Mike Bender's (my old swing coach) old secretary and the others were Marius and Sehan Filmalter, my old short game coach and his son.  It was great to see all of them!

Marius is an amazing cook!

A typical night in Dallas is Marius cooking, then out for some pool and drinks then back to their place to talk golf til late in the night.

American Idol Finale in L.A.

Kim and I went to L.A. to the American Idol finale this week.  We went to both Tuesday nights competition show and Wednesday nights results show.  We had a blast!  There were so many great performers!  Jack Black, Beyonce sang twice, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Gladys Knight, Steven Tyler, Marc Anthony, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw and all the 12 Idols from this season.

Kim and I with our favorite, Lauren!  We snuck in a quick pic with her while she was singing!

Wednesday morning we went to Hollywood to walk around a bit.  This was the walk of stars that went up and down Hollywood Blvd.

My first In-N-Out experience!

Ben Crane Workout Video

This is a must see video even if you aren't into golf.  This guy is a golfer on the PGA tour and has a great sense of humor.  He is known for his slow play and gets criticized a lot for that, so recently he has come out with these fun videos to show everyone he's not just this serious slow golfer.  There is also a video on pre-round routine, dance and slow play.  Check them out!

You can also visit his website to see his other great videos:  http://www.bencranegolf.com/index.php?option=com_video_gallery

The Players

My good friends, Jordan and Malissa Weber, came up to Jacksonville this week to watch the Wednesday practice rounds.  I used to live with Jordan in Orlando and went to school with both of them for one year at UNI.  Behind us is 16 fairway and in the distance is 17, the par 3 with the island green at TPC Sawgrass.

Two former Panther golfers.  Go Panthers!  This is #18 at The Players.  It is a tough finishing hole, especially if it is windy.  You can also see the enormous clubhouse in the background.

Wednesday night was Military Appreciation night.  We were inside eating dinner when the people were out there talking.  I believe there was a 4 star general that talked, along with Jim Furyk and a few others. After the speeches Darius Rucker put on a good concert!

After we finished eating inside, we came out the back door and sat on some steps and listened to Darius Rucker for a little while.  We had a prime spot!  I would have stayed all night!  He puts on a good concert.

The boys eating their ice cream and listening to the music

The boys really weren't that interested in the music, they just wanted to play.  We tried to tell them that the guy singing was really good and that we should go dance.  Kids…  :)

There were a lot of people there to help support the troops and listen to some good music!  It was a fun night.

Howdy Partner!

Each tournament has a player party.  We don't always go, but this week at The Players they always do a fun party geared towards families.  The kids loved it cause they had a lot of fun activities.  In the background of this picture you can see the different places you could visit and do fun things.  They had a bank, jail, saloon and two others.

They were playing all sorts of music and a lot of the kids were out there dancing and loving it.  The party was at this cool place called The Outpost.

Will and Jackson are best buds!  I have a lot of fun with these two boys.

This was the first picture, somewhat nice.

And this was the second…they were getting a little rowdy.  They are always trying to "get Miss Jill" as they would say!

Old Neighbors!

One of my favorite parts of this job is that we travel to many fun cities and many times I get to see friends I haven't seen in a while, like the our old neighbors!  During the tournament in Charlotte I went over to Gloria's house and spent time with her, Nikki and Erica!  It was so great catching up with them and talking about all the fun times we had on Hampton Court!  Tracy wasn't getting in town til the next day, so I missed seeing her.  Gloria, Erica and Nikki all live in and around Charlotte and Tracy lives just down the road in Raleigh.  Nikki has 3 handsome boys that are all going to be tall when they grow up and Erica has the cutest little girl.  It was a fun night!
