Susan G. Komen 3Day 60 Mile Walk in Dallas

November 4-6 our team, Breast Friends, walked in the Susan G. Komen 3Day for the Cure in Dallas, Texas.  We did 60 miles in 3 days to help raise money for breast cancer research and community programs.  We also helped raise awareness in one of the 14 major cities the walk is held.  Sheila is on her 7th walk, my mom, Amy Keller and Lola McAndrew are on their 4th walk, Jamie is on her 3rd, Sara and I are on our 2nd and this is Kenzie Hein's 1st walk.  Maria Fobian has done one walk and this time she crewed.

Yes, I took A LOT of pictures and it was really hard to pick which ones to post.  I did my best to post a good overall picture of what goes on during the walk.  Enjoy!  Call me to sign up with our team for next years walk!  I believe we are walking in Chicago in August!  You'll love it!!

Team dinner Thursday night before the walk starts.  From left to right: Mom, Sara, Jamie, Sheila, Amy, Lola, Kenzie and Maria

Opening ceremonies was a little cold!  It just made us stand close when waiting for opening ceremonies to start

My attire for Day 1.  Yes, I wore that wig all 3 days and all day long!

We got our picture with the Susan G. Komen national speaker.  She was a good speaker at opening and closing ceremonies.

Someone made me a sign!

The Boo-Bee Hive Sweep van.  These vans drive around all day along the route incase people need to be taken to the next pit stop or back to camp.

One of the many walker stalkers out on the route.  These 2 girls were great!  They were at many different places each day and were always playing loud music and very energetic.

One of the many reasons we walk

Kenzie walking for her aunt.

Jamie's turn with the flag

Thank you Smoothie King for handing out free delicious smoothies!

If you look closely, you can see Jamie and I running down the line of school kids giving them high-fives.  The sidewalk we were supposed to walk on was on the opposite side of the street, so Jamie and I ran over to get them pumped up.

Kenzie, Jamie and Sara dancing and excited to almost be done with Day 1

Two thumbs up was Kenzie's thing all weekend

Finished with Day 1

The college guys volunteered to help set up tents!

The pink headlamps that Stu Baxter gave us.  Thanks Stu!  They were great!

Can you tell who it is?!  It's Jamie and Sara, ready for bed.  They get upset with me when I mess with them when they are ready for bed and in their sleeping bags.  I think it's fun!  I mean, I think it was 8:45pm when I took this photo!  Who can go to sleep at 8:45?!  :)

I believe this was a shot of the tents in the morning when I woke up.

A beautiful morning!

The twins are back!  They got a lot of comments on their skirts again

Bad hair day...

Someone had a sign with our team name

This cheering station was awesome!

Family

This group of supporters were serving wine and cheese!  Yes please!  This day we had smoothies, mimosas, wine and beer.  The Texas supporters were great!  :)

This lady was great!  We saw her many times along the route.  She was one of the many survivors out there cheering us on.

Loved this Dad and son's sign

Day 2 conquered!

The flag the last walkers bring in and put up at the end of each day

The dance party on Saturday night after the camp show.  Yes, after 40 miles in 2 days Jamie and I were all about getting our groove on!  It actually keeps your legs loose and makes them feel better.

This guy wore this outfit everyday.  The only thing he changed was the bra, but it was always pink.  It was great!

Jamie still getting down!  Dancing to All the Single Ladies

Time to brush the teeth

Jamie and I having some fun.  Only a few miles left and still full of energy!

Day 3 lunch was in this cool little park in the middle of downtown Dallas

Everyone walked all 60 miles!

After we got our shirts and pictures we had some time before closing ceremonies started.  Lola decided to go and cheer on the walkers coming into holding after they walk through the great community support finish line.  It started with just Lola, Sheila and myself….

…and grew to THIS!!!!  It was awesome!  People started coming over after they got done and cheered on all the walkers coming in even though they were tired and sore from a long 3 days.  Way to start something so great Lola!!!!!!

Closing Ceremonies

What up team!

It's tradition to take off one of your shoes and hold it up in the air when the survivors (in pink shirts) walk into closing ceremonies

Some of the survivors celebrating another walk completed and $7.1 million donated to the fight against breast cancer by all of us Dallas walkers!!!!!

Time to find our luggage and head home!  Another great walk finished.  Can't wait til next year!
